Jeffrey M. Harris, MD

Dr. Jeffrey M. Harris is board certified in medical oncology. He practices at the Cancer Specialists of North Florida Baptist South office.

A native of Miami and son of a physician, Dr. Harris never considered any profession other than medicine. He chose to specialize in oncology because of the intense relationships that are established between oncologists and their patients and families.

He especially enjoys getting to know his patients personally in addition to learning about their medical condition. “I proceed with a thorough history to help establish a personal relationship,” he said.

Dr. Harris believes personalized medicine is one of the greatest advancements in the field of oncology. “The fact that there are now several different malignancies that we can tailor our therapy for the individual’s specific tumor instead of treating everyone with the same chemotherapy regime is a great advancement,” he said.

The most rewarding part of his work is helping patients live longer and enjoy a better quality of life. “I am upfront with patients regarding the diagnosis and prognosis. I want them to understand from the beginning what we are dealing with and what to expect. Often we are able to provide treatment that allows them to live longer and better, and they are genuinely grateful for what we are able to provide.”

Dr. Harris enjoys golf and spending time with his wife and family at the beach and attending sporting events.
