Patient Assistance Foundation Assists Patients and Their Families During Their Cancer Treatment
Cancer Specialists of North Florida, Jacksonville’s largest cancer practice, provides assistance to patients and their families through the Patient Assistance Foundation.
Established in 2004, the Patient Assistance Foundation of Cancer Specialists of North Florida is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization set up to provide short-term financial assistance to patients undergoing treatments for cancer or blood-related diseases in Northeast Florida.
The practice’s Executive Director, Bob Phelan, said that 90 percent of all funds received for the foundation are distributed to patients and their families to assist with daily living costs including: rent or mortgage payments, utility payments, telephone payments, and transportation costs.
“Our goal is to provide short-term assistance to patients in order to help patients and their families during their time of need,” Phelan said.
The foundation does not pay patient medical bills, co-payments or credit card bills. No Cancer Specialists of North Florida physician or staff member is eligible to receive any financial distributions from the foundation.
